Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and the supervision of the Dean of Nineveh Technical Institute of Management, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Muhammad Salih, in cooperation with the University’s Quality Assurance Department, and as part of the 2025-2026 sustainable development activities, the Institute’s Quality Assurance Division, with the Legal Management Technologies Department, held a scientific seminar entitled:
“Renewable Energy Legislation and its Impact on Sustainable Development”
Renewable energy is one of the most important energy sources in the modern era, as it represents a clean and sustainable alternative to conventional energy. Iraqi legislators have recognized the importance of this transformation and have worked to regulate the use of renewable energy with laws and legislation aimed at achieving sustainable development, protecting the environment, and supporting the national economy.

The aim of the seminar:
To raise legal awareness of the importance of renewable energy and its role in achieving sustainable development, and to clarify the position of Iraqi legislation in supporting this trend. This seminar aims to shed light on the legal framework for renewable energy in Iraq and its impact on building promising sustainable development. Iraqi legislation, most notably Renewable Energy Law No. 20 of 2017, represents an important step towards promoting the use of clean energy sources. However, it requires broader implementation and institutional integration to ensure the realization of sustainable development on the ground.
The seminar was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in the Institute’s conference hall and was attended by a group of faculty members and affiliates.
